Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd ( TRIFED ) has started the initiative with an aim to include around 5 lakh tribal producers for sourcing various handicraft, handloom, natural food products across the country. The suppliers associated with this initiative include individual tribal artisans, tribal Self Help Groups and Organisations and NGOs working with tribals. The platform provides the tribal suppliers a facility to sell their goods through their own retailers and distributors. The initiative will also facilitate the suppliers with their own e - marketplace accounts.

The initiative will be implemented under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and include tribes from all over the country willing to sell their products on a larger platform. Arjun Munda flagged off the initiative by inaugurating Tribes India's outlets in Rishikesh and Kolkata. Tribes India will also be partnering with Amazon in order to provide a wider market to these Tribal sellers. An inclusion in the plan will be the insertion of the new tribal products from the states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. During the program, the forest fresh product of Pakur Honey, gathered by the Santhal tribe of Pakur Jharkhand was also launched.
The E-Marketplace initiative will help bring together Tribal Artisans in large number and on a single platform to provide them with benefits of online trade. It will introduce B2B ( Business - to - Business model) trade and connect several tribal businesses, which are dependent on Minor Forest Produces and Medicinal plants, to mass manufacturers.
