New Delhi, Dec 16: UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held talks to strengthen cooperation in different areas including trade and prosperity, defence and security, climate and health.

UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced and confirmed that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will visit India next month to attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest. 
 
FS Dominic Raab after the talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar agreed on the key elements of an ambitious 10-year roadmap to further broaden ties, and also boost strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
 
Both the countries reviewed the situation in Afghanistan, the evolution of the Indo-Pacific and developments in the Middle East besides discussion on shared concerns over challenges posed by terrorism and radicalism.
 
Raab said "Prime Minister Boris Johnson has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join the UK-hosted G7 summit next year. The UK Prime Minister has also accepted the very generous invitation to attend India's Republic Day celebrations, as the chief guest in January which is a great honour."
 
The British Foreign Secretary also said that his government is committed to build a stronger defence and security partnership with India, adding it will help in tackling mutual concerns such as, terrorism and maritime security as well as piracy in the Western Indian Ocean.
Raab said, "It will also help us respond to the new and emerging challenges like space and cybersecurity. We want to work together to ensure our telecoms networks, our 5G networks, are more secure and resilient."
 
S Jaishankar said, in recent years, there have been big changes in global politics and the two countries believe that their interests are better served by working together more effectively. That will not only be building on our historical ties, but also expressing our shared commitment to a multi-polar world.
 
He also said,"as democratic polities, market economies and pluralistic societies, we can, we should and we will make a difference to the realisation of a rules-based global order."
