BJP wins MLC seats of Lucknow and Bareilly until now

Lucknow, Dec 4: In Uttar Pradesh, counting for 11 legislative council seats of graduate and teacher constituencies is underway since Dec 3, amid tight security. Uttar Pradesh state's ruling party BJP has until now won 2 MLC seats of Lucknow and Bareilly.

Fate of a total of 199 candidates, including 114 for graduates and 85 for teachers constituencies, will be decided in these elections. Out of the total 11 seats for which voting took place on Dec 1, 5 are of Division Graduate consultancies and 6 of Division Teachers constituencies.
 
The division graduate constituencies are Lucknow, Agra , Meerut, Varanasi, and Allahabad-Jhansi constituency. While the division teachers constituency are Lucknow, Agra, Meerut, Varanasi, Bareilly - Moradabad and Gorakhpur - Faizabad division teachers constituency.
 
Besides Lucknow and Bareilly where BJP has been announced to have won, counting is currently underway for rest of the 9 seats of graduate and teacher quota of Legislative Council and BJP is leading on 2 seats also. BJP candidate Hari Singh Dhillon defeated Sanjay Mishra of Samajwadi party by a margin of more than 8 thousand votes and won from Bareilly - Moradabad teachers constituency.
 
Result of Lucknow teachers constituency also went in favor of BJP. Its candidate Umesh Dwivedi defeated his rival Mahendra Rai. BJP is also leading at Jhansi and Meerut seats.
