Washinton DC, May 1: 'World Health Organisation should be ashamed of themselves as they are like the public relations agency for China, US President Donald Trump said while accusing the UN health organization, during a White House press conference. He even said that he has seen evidence that the coronavirus started in the Wuhan virology laboratory.

Trump said that the evidence he had seen gave him a "high degree of confidence" that the virus came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. “We have people looking at it very, very strongly. Scientific people, intelligence people, and others. We’re going to put it all together. I think we will have a very good answer eventually. And China might even tell us.” he said.

While when reporters asked him about what evidence he had seen that the virus originated in a Chinese lab, Trump responded, “I can’t tell you that. I’m not allowed to tell you that.” But Trump also suggested that the release could have been intentional.

Before iterating the $500 million a year funding to WHO as compared to China's $38 million a year, the US President said, "Whether it's a lot more, it doesn't matter. They shouldn't be making excuses when people make horrible mistakes, especially mistakes that are causing hundreds of thousands of people around the world to die."

The Trump administration has temporarily stopped financial support to the WHO and launched a probe into the agency's role in coronavirus pandemic. The US administration has alleged that the international health agency failed to do the "only job" it had i.e. stop a pandemic.

Meanwhile, Trump also alleged that China does not want to see him elected in the upcoming US presidential polls scheduled for later this year because of his administration's tough stance of imposing high tariffs on Chinese imports. "China doesn't want to see me elected and the reason is that we are getting billions and billions of dollars, many billions of dollars a month from China," he added.

The US has recorded more deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, than any other country
