Bihar DGP Pandey has tweeted "IPS officer Vinay Tiwari reached Mumbai today from Patna on official duty to lead the police team there, but he has been forcibly quarantined by BMC officials at 11 pm today.”

Further, he also added a video of IPS Vinay Tiwari at the quarantine center. Tiwari was visiting Mumbai to lead the police team in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. A four-member team of Bihar Police is already in Mumbai investigating the case.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the BMC's decision to quarantine Tiwari was not right, adding that the matter is "not political." He also further added that "Bihar DGP will speak with the authorities there. Whatever happened with him (Vinay Tiwari) is not right. It is not a political issue. Bihar Police is carrying out its duty."

Last month, Rajput's father lodged an FIR in Patna for abetment to suicide naming actress Rhea Chakraborty, the ex-girlfriend of the Patna-born actor, and her family members as accused. Meanwhile, the BMC has justified its decision saying that the civic body was just following the quarantine guidelines. Being a domestic air traveler, he needs to be guided for home quarantine as per the State Government Guidelines.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead inside his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra on June 14. Since then the police have been probing the case keeping in mind various angles.

Chakraborty has filed a plea in the Supreme Court to transfer the case against her from Patna to Mumbai, which will be heard on August 5. Both the Maharashtra and Bihar governments have filed caveats in the top court seeking to be heard before any order is passed on Chakraborty’s plea. Rajput’s father has also filed a caveat in the matter.

The Mumbai Police is also probing the case. So far, they have interrogated some high-profile celebrities including Mahesh Bhatt, Rajeev Masand, and many more.
