Minister for Textile and Women and Child Development Smriti Irani said that Gujarat was always ready to share knowledge on the textile industry with West Bengal. However, West Bengal lacks in industrial vibrancy and that the state needs to develop the right attitude of industrial vibrancy like Gujarat.

The Minister shared that it is the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that people from one state should go to others to gain and share knowledge. She also shared that the Union Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Debasree Chaudhuri has said that industrial revolution can be brought in West Bengal, if it follows the Gujarat
 model.

The Atmanirbhar Bharat mission was launched as a result of a crisis caused by the COVID 19 pandemic, through which the govt has aimed to turn a crisis into an opportunity. In the initial phase of the lockdown instigated due to the pandemic, the successful development of an indigenous supply chain of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits in mere 60 days is an example for local manufacturers that self-reliance in a high-quality product is an achievable goal. In the later period, the PPE production came as a boost for the textile industry as it faced nearly 84 per cent fall in apparel sales and an acute shortage of labor due to the pandemic in the first quarter.
