51st IFFI to pay homage to 19 Indian, 9 international artists who passed away last year

New Delhi, January 15: India's and Asia's oldest and most prestigious film festival, 51st edition of International Film Festival of India is going to pay homages to nineteen personalities of cinema from India and nine personalities from across the world.
 
According to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India is going to pay homage to 19 prominent personalities of cinema from India and 9 others from across the world

The 19 Indian stalwarts include Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor, filmmakers Basu Chatterjee, Nishikant Kamat, Manmohan Mahapatra, Urdu poet Rahat Indori, choreographer Saroj Khan, singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, actors Jagdeep, Kumkum, Nimmi, Bijay Mohanty, Shreeram Lagoo, Ajit Das, music composer Wajid Khan, lyricist Yogesh Gaur and costume designer Bhanu Athaiya.
 
 
Apart from this, the9 personalities from the global cinema comprise, Kirk Douglas, Olivia De Havilland, Max Von Sydow, directors Alan Parker, Ivan Passer, Goran Paskaljevic, cinematographer Allen Daviau and composer Ennio
 
A total of 224 films will be screened under different sections at the 51st edition, which will be held from 16 January to 24 January is organised in a hybrid format in the wake of the pandemic. It shod be noted, this year IFFI will organise some events on the OTT platform for its audience. Argentinian filmmaker Pablo Cesar is the chairperson of the jury at the 51st IFFI.
 
 
 
Apart from it three times Oscar awardee, Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro is going to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at International Film Festival of India.
 
 
The festival will comprise both online and in-person modes of participation. Therefore, cine enthusiasts, film students, media persons, and the general public can watch the film screenings, master classes, and film appreciation classes by FTII from their homes also.
