New Delhi, January 25: The Union Budget 2021 is on its way, yet with the risks of COVID-19 pandemic one cannot ignore, socially and financially! The Halwa ceremony that generally marks the beginning of the Budget documents printing was this time attended by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur and some top officials of the Ministry of Finance.
However, this time, going digital, the Finance Department led by FinMin Sitharaman launched 'Union Budget Mobile App' which will be the source of financial bits for the delegates in the Parliament. With this, the Budget 2021-2022 is going to be completely different from the budgets presented so far.
In the history of independent India, first time the budget will be paperless (budget papers will not be printed because of the circumstances created by COVID-19). Alternatively, the official mobile app has been launched by the Ministry of Finance for complete access to all budget. This is quite appreciable and notable. This way the government is saving a lot of paper and boosting the frame of Digital India.
The year before, Finance Minister had, in her unique stance introduced the Budget in a Bahi Khata form instead of a briefcase. "Briefcase in India showcases a picture of something being fishy, illegal. The Union Budget is very important and that we are following India's cultural method of keeping accounts", she had said.
