Biden picks Indian-American Vanita Gupta as Associate Attorney General

Washington DC, January 08: After appointing lots of Indian-Americans to his committee, US President-elect Joe Biden nominated Indian-American Vanita Gupta as the associate attorney general of the United States. She will be the first woman of color to serve in this role.

Announcing the new, "Our first-rate nominees to lead the Justice Department are eminently qualified, embody character and judgment that is beyond reproach, and have devoted their careers to serving the American people with honor and integrity, Biden said. 
 
 
He added, "They will restore the independence of the Department so it serves the interests of the people, not a presidency, rebuild public trust in the rule of law, and work tirelessly to ensure a more fair and equitable justice system."

Biden in November announced that Indian-American Neera Tanden as director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Besides that, Biden is set to be inaugurated on January 20 after the US Congress on certified the electoral college votes that declared Biden as the winner of the Presidential election.
