New Delhi, May 24: At the time when the Black and White fungai infection is creating havoc in the country, UP’s Ghaziabad has now reported the first case of Yellow Fungus infection on Monday. The patient is currently being treated at ENT surgeon Dr. Brij Pal Tyagi's hospital.
While speaking to the news agency, Dr. Tyagi said the patient is infected with all three kinds of funguses - black, white, and yellow. “A 45-year-old patient’s sinus was normal in CT scan but after performing endoscopy we came to know that he contracted three types of fungi (black, white, and yellow). Yellow fungus is generally found in reptiles. I found this first time in human," he said.
The patient, a resident of Ghaziabad’s Sanjay Nagar, had complained of swelling in the eyes and bleeding from his nose during post-Covid recovery.
According to the experts, Yellow Fungus is more dangerous than the other two fungal infections. Like black fungus, it's also a fatal disease, which ultimately results in sunken eyes and necrosis.
The symptoms of yellow fungus are said to be lethargy, weight loss, low appetite, or no appetite at all. Subsequently, more severe symptoms of yellow fungus can also be the leakage of pus. The fungus is said to hinder the healing of wounds, prolonging the process, and can also result in organ failure, malnutrition and eventually lead to necrosis in extreme cases. It is believed that poor hygiene standards or consumption of unhygienic food cause yellow fungus infection.
