MK Stalin takes oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Chennai, May 07: Starting the new inning of Dravidian politics, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's leader MK Stalin took the oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Friday morning. Along with Stalin, his 33 cabinet ministers including, 19 former ministers and 15 new faces were also sworn in at Raj Bhavan in Chennai. Stalin was administered the oath as CM by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

With that, Stalin will hold Home and other portfolios including public, general administration, all India services, district revenue officers, special program implementation, and welfare of differently-abled persons. Meanwhile, Party veteran and general secretary Duraimurugan will be took the charge of Minister for Water Resources.
 
 
Besides, Former Chennai Mayor Ma Subramanian and the party’s north Chennai strongman, PK Sekarbabu have been allocated the departments of Health and Family Welfare and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments respectively. S Raghupathy will be in charge of the law department and, T Mano Thangaraj will take charge of Information Technology.

Palanivel Thiagarajan has been allocated Finance and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi School Education department. The cabinet has two women ministers, P Geetha Jeevan, a former minister, who has been given social welfare and women empowerment and N Kayalvizhi Selvaraj has been designated Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare.
 
The sworn-in ceremony was attended by AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam, Congress's P Chidambaram, MDMK chief Vaiko besides others from the alliance. It should be noted that Stalin has excluded his son Udhayanidhi from his cabinet.
 
 
DMK has registered a thumping victory in Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021. From the 234 member assembly seats, DMK has won 133 seats on its own in the 6 Aprils assembly election and along with allies, including Congress, garnered a total of 159 constituencies.
