Chennai, Oct 22: Labelling DMK as a"family party", AIADMK took a dig at Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin after he was re-elected as DMK president for the second time in a row. During the press conference, the AIADMK leader D Jayakumar called MK Stalin a leader with "no guts".
Jayakumar further questioned CM Stalin's decision to appoint his sister as Deputy General Secretary of the DMK following his re-elected as party chief.
"DMK is a family party. We can see that from the position CM MK Stalin gave to his family (his sister) as Deputy General Secretary for DMK at the General Council meeting," said Jayakumar.
Recalling the former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha, the AIADMK leader said, "If anybody did something wrong in the party our leader late Jayalalitha would dismiss them and take immediate action. But CM Stalin has no guts to do it."
It should be noted that Stalin was elected as DMK President for the second time unopposed. Similarly, Duraimurugan as DMK General Secretary and TR Balu as DMK Treasurer were also elected again unopposed.
DMK MP Kanimozhi was nominated for the post of DMK Deputy general secretary which was vacant since last month.
While speaking at the General Council meeting, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said that the BJP is using AIADMK and creating inter-party issues for them. "After Jayalalithaa's demise without a strong leader AIADMK is so weak and they are now split into four teams. AIADMK doesn't have any ideology other than being against DMK. That's why today they seem very weak," he said.
