Here are the 5 reasons why you should watch this movie in theaters with your kids. (Marathi people please watch this movie preferably in Marathi) :

1. To teach our kids the glorious history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: Living outside of Maharashtra all my life, I have understood one thing that kids outside of Maharashtra know very little about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maratha history. They hardly know what “Pavankhind” is and how “Afzalkhan Vadh” happened. Only in the homes where parents take extra effort, do kids know everything about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This movie, after Tanaji, is a great chance to tell our kids about what happened in Pawankhind, why Ghod khind is called Pawan Khind, and who was Bajiprabhu Deshpande. This movie is a chance to walk down the history with your kids and create that passion in them.

2. The art of Ganimikawa: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was famous for his War Strategy (Yudhhneeti) Ganimikawa. And the battle of Pawankhind is one of the greatest examples of Ganimikawa. This movie will tell our kids about the War Strategies of Maratha times, and how Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj created “Hindavi Swarajya” using this war strategy. How he invested in relationships with his Mavle, prepared them for such kinds of battles, and how these Mavle became the strength of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Everyone must know what was “Ganimikawa”.

3. To know who was Bajiprabhu Deshpande: As I said before, kids outside of Maharashtra are hardly aware of these things. All thanks to convent education and very little information in our textbooks about the same from ages. We know very little and hence watching movies like these and plays like “Jaanta Raja” becomes an extremely important factor for our kids to know these unsung heroes. Bajiprabhu Deshpande was a brave and courageous fighter who fought for Hindavi Swarajya till his last breath. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj left for Vishalgarh, and Baji took a promise from him that when he will reach there he will indicate to him by firing a cannon. Till the time he will hold Mughal Sena in Ghodkhind with his 300 Mavle. Till the moment he did not hear the cannon fire, he fought, till his last breath, till the last drop of his blood. And that was the courageous battle of Pawankhind, and the hero was Baji Prabhu Deshpande. To witness this history all kids must watch this movie in theaters.

4. To tell our kids the reality: Unfortunately, our kids are living in a world where the media is very much manipulative with their pre-decided narrative. Social Media and people who drive the force of social media are narrative setters, and after a certain point, this pre-set narrative looks like a reality. This is a slow poisoning for our kids, and they are every day getting far away from what the actual reality is. And hence such movies which depict the glorious history of India should be a must-watch for our kids, to know what the actual reality is. Where famous people name their kids Taimur and Jahangir, and the previous generation is grown up watching Mughal - E - Azam and Jodha Akbar where Akbar has been shown as a kind and religion-respecting man, our next generation must know what these Mughals have done to our country and our society. We must show such movies to our kids, to tell them what the reality was, and how they are being brainwashed.

5. To appreciate our unsung heroes with our kids: As they say, monkeys see, monkeys do. Kids are great observers and they do, what they observe. When they will watch their parents appreciating these unsung heroes, and respecting our glorious history, they will do the same in the future and they will also be the ones to take this legacy forward to the next generation. That’s why they must know it from a very tender age, and they must see their parents appreciating this.
