New Delhi, November 05: In a shocking development, a Delhi court has granted bail to Mohd Anshar who is one of the main accused in the Jahangirpuri riot that took place on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 16, 2022.
After hearing the case, additional session Judge Satish Kumar of Rohini District court granted bail to accused Anshar alias Mohd Ansar on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety of the like amount.
The court said that the investigation of the accused has already been completed and a charge sheet has already been filed. The same has also been committed to this court for trial.
It will take a long time to conclude the trial and no purpose would be served to keep the accused in judicial custody, the court added.
For unreserved, violence broke out in the Jahangirpuri area on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 16, 2022. The incident took place at C block of Jahangirpuri in Delhi.
As per the reports, the violence took place when the Hanuman Jayanti Shobha yatra procession approached the Jama Masjid in C Block at 6 PM, a man named Ansar approached the procession with some of his companions and initiated an argument. This dispute quickly devolved into stone-pelting, resulting in a stampede in the procession.
The mob also fired gunshots in which Sub Inspector Medha Lal Meena got injured after a bullet in his hand. Following this, the Police arrested Anshar and others.
Besides, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a money laundering case against Mohd Ansar and other suspects under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED began its probe based on several complaints registered by the police officers against the accused.
