China condemns attack on its nationals in Pak, demands punishment for attackers

The three Chinese citizens identified as Huang Guiping, Ding Mufang, and Chen Sai and a Pakistani driver were killed in a bombing carried out by a woman suicide attacker near Karachi University’s Confucius Institute on Tuesday. The incident marks the first major attack this year against the nationals of Pakistan"s long-time ally China.

Beijing, April 27: After three Chinese tutors were killed in the Karachi's suicide bombing, China in strong words condemned the attack, saying "the blood of the Chinese people should not be shed in vain." It demanded Pakistan severely punish the perpetrators, protect Chinese citizens and prevent such incidents from happening again.

The Chinese foreign ministry has also sought an explanation from Pakistan, along with a detailed and comprehensive investigation into a suspected suicide bombing that killed three Chinese citizens in Karachi. 
 
"We must warn that either in or out of Pakistan, forces targeting Chinese nationals in attacks will be stricken the hardest. The blood of the Chinese people should not be shed in vain, and those behind this incident will surely pay the price," it said in a statement.
 
 
 
"The Chinese foreign ministry and Chinese diplomatic missions in Pakistan will continue to urge relevant Pakistani departments to handle properly the follow-up matters of those killed, treat the injured, and resolutely crackdown on the terrorist organization involved," the statement said.
 
"The Chinese side expresses strong condemnation and indignation over this major terrorist attack, and extends deep condolences to the victims and sympathies to the injured and bereaved families," the statement added. Assistant foreign minister Wu Jianghao also called the Pakistani ambassador to China to express "extremely grave concern" over the attack.

After the explosion, a terrorist organisation named Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack and released a photo of a woman, claiming she was the female suicide bomber.
