Defence Minister Rajnath Singh pays tributes to heroes of Galwan

The incident at Galwan that took place late night on Jun 15 2020, was a first of its kind incident in 45 years, in the history of India - China relations, where the troops of both India and China were engaged in a violent skirmish, leading to several deaths.

New Delhi, Jun 16: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday (Jun 16) paid homage to the Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives in the Galwan valley clash, two years ago in 2020. The Galwan valley skirmish of 2020, was the first such incident in 45 years that a violent skirmish between Indian and Chinese troops took place.

The incident that took place late night on Jun 15 2020, was a first of its kind incident in 45 years, in the history of India - China relations, where the troops of both India and China were engaged in a violent skirmish, leading to several deaths. Although, the incident took place two years ago, both the countries have yet not arrived to a common consensus on the issue despite of continuously being engaged in diplomatic talks.
 
Until now, the Indian Army and Chinese PLA has been engaged in 14 rounds of talks since the Galwan clashes. Another one had already took place, prior to the Galwan skirmish to deal with the military standoff along LAC, however, nothing concrete was reached upon. Besides the Galwan skirmish, further worsened the possibility of reaching any consensus.
 
As per latest reports, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the forward areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday (Jun 16). He will commence his two-day visit to the Union Territory where he will interact with the troops.
