The delegation was led by Bharat First National Convener and senior Supreme Court advocate Siraj Qureshi and advisor of Bharat First Dr. Imran Chaudhary. It may be mentioned that Bharat First is the intellectual forum floated by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) under the guidance of MRM Patron Dr. Indresh Kumar.

The delegation expressed their serious concern over the continuing killing of cow and its progeny and unabatted smuggling of the animals from border states and sought immediate ban on these activities. The delegation also demanded strict ban on illegal abattoirs active in different parts of the country.

This is probably for the first time in the history ofindependent India the Muslim intellectuals have come together for demanding a ban on cow slaughter and smuggling. The delegation also sought directions from the central government towards firm implementation of the law prohibiting killing and smuggling of cows.

In a memorandum submitted to the Minister the delegation said that on the occasion of Bakr Id, hundreds of shops flourish selling beef and this hurts the feelings of majority of Indians who are Hindus, and thus, it is against the principles of the Holy Quran and the sayings of the Prophet.

This illegal trade of beef only benefits the smugglers and those running illegal abattoirs, the delegation said demanding immediate action to curb these activities. The delegation pointed out that earlier the courts have issued directives and verdicts in favor of banning cow smuggling and slaughter but they are not implemented properly and strictly.
