He said the Centre wrote several letters and spoke with the state government but it did not dispense them. "They have taken away the rights of the poor. Without naming chief minister KCR, he said abusing PM Modi or the Centre will not help, distribution of free food grains will help the people of Telangana.

The minister further said that the central government has also found after an audit that certain mills don't properly store rice and do adulteration. "In some mills, wrong stocks were being declared. When the Centre told the state government to act...they did not act," he said. Goyal said the Centre had to force them to distribute rations and show what kind of government is functioning in Telangana.

The minister said some days back, the state government distributed June's ration and has now promised that July's ration would also be distributed. He said as the state government has promised to distribute rations to the people, the Centre would start procurement of rice from Telangana.

After COVID struck, the Centre announced 5 kg of additional rations under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) besides normal food grains to poor people in the country. Goyal said Telangana was not distributing these free additional rations since April.

The minister also said that the Andhra government has also promised to distribute additional rations under PMGKY.
