In a major development, the National Investigation Agency probing the Udaipur murder case has conducted a raid in Hyderabad's 'Tawheed Madarassa' and detained a 36-year-old Muslim scholar, Mohammed Monouwar Hassain Asrafi in connection with the murder.

He has been staying in Santoshnagar for the last 8 to 10 years. The NIA has taken the Muslim scholar in Madhapur for questioning. The investigating agency was questioning him about his links with the two accused.

As per the media reports, the main accused of the Kanhaiya Lal case had a telephonic conversation with Asrafi before brutally killing the Hindu tailor. The NIA observed that Mohammed Asrafi was in constant touch with the main accused in the days leading to the gruesome incident.

It should be noted that two Islamists killed a Hindu tailor, Kanhaiya Lal, on June 28 in Rajasthan for supporting suspended BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her controversial remark. They allegedly carried out the murder in broad daylight. They filmed the killing and posted the video on social media.

Even prior to the murder, the accused had issued an open threat to the tailor, complaints about which were allegedly made to the police by the deceased. Yet no action was taken. Last week, MHA has handed over the case to the NIA.
