Bengaluru FC has finally added what can be called the last feather to its highly decorated hat as they lifted their first-ever Durand Cup title after beating fellow Indian Super League (ISL) side Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the final at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata on Sunday.

The victory marked the completion of a set for Simon Grayson's side, who have earned the trophies in I-League (2014 and 2016), Federation Cup (2015 and 2017), Super Cup (2018) and the Indian Super League (2019).

Sunil Chhetri who has clinched his first Durand Cup took to social media and said, "Two decades is a bit of a wait, but if it meant doing it in the blue of Bengaluru, then it was worth every season of trying. Durand Cup Champions - would have been a shame if an Army kid playing football professionally never had the chance to say this.😉Come on, BFC!"

However, more than the memorable win for Bengaluru FC, there was a video that went viral all over the internet for the wrong reasons. The Governor of West Bengal, La. Ganesan Iyer, was seen pushing away Bengaluru captain Sunil Chhetri when he posed for a photograph with the trophy.

This came after the match when the trophy-presentation ceremony took place. La. Ganesan was standing slightly behind Chhetri when the Bengaluru captain was being handed over the trophy and asked for a photograph from the press. It was then spotted that West Bengal Governor pushed Chhetri to make his way to the middle to pose for the photograph with the trophy. This resulted in backlash from netizens who called Ganesan "Shameless".

Speaking about the match, Siva Sakthi and Brazilian Alan Costa scored for the winners while Apuia got the lone goal for MCFC in what was a fine display of end-to-end football.
