RRR’s Naatu Naatu wins Best Original Song at Golden Globes 2023, becomes the first-ever Asian song to do so

The song "Naatu Naatu" from S.S. Rajamouli"s magnum opus "RRR" won the Best Original Song, Motion Picture at the 80th Golden Globes.

Los Angeles, Jan 11: RRR movie has scripted yet another history. The song 'Naatu Naatu' from S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus 'RRR' won the Best Original Song, Motion Picture at the 80th Golden Globes. However, it missed out on the Best Non-English Language Film which was won by Argentina, 1985 from Argentina.

M M Keeravani received the honour as a music composer and thanked his wife Srivalli wo was also present. He dedicated the award to Rajamouli and the actors Ram Charan and NTR Jr. While accepting the award, he said: "Thank you very much for this prestigious award: "This award belongs to SS Rajamouli for his vision, I thank him for constantly believe and supporting my work. N.T. Rama Rao and Ram Charan who danced with full stamina."
 
 
In the Best Original Song category, ‘Naatu Naatu’ was competing against – ‘Carolina’ (Taylor Swift) from Where the Crawdads Sing, ‘Ciao Papa’ (Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, and Guillermo del Toro) – Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, ‘Hold My Hand’ (Lady Gaga, BloodPop, and Benjamin Rice) – Top Gun: Maverick and ‘Lift Me Up’ (Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson) – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
 
 
In Best Non-English Language Film, it was competing against Germany’s All Quiet on the Western Front, Belgium’s Close, South Korea’s Decision to Leave and Argentina’s Argentina, 1985.
 
 
RRR' stars NTR Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.
 
SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and MM Keeravani all participated in a Q&A session at Los Angeles’ Chinese Theatres days before the ceremony. The director has been stationed in LA for the last few months as he is participating in the Oscar campaign of the film.
