Karnataka Congress workers 'purify' Vidhana Soudha with cow urine as BJP's 'corrupt' term ends

Bengaluru, May 22: After a Congress's landslide victory and Siddaramaiah taking oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka, party workers on Monday "cleansed and purified" the premises of the Vidhana Soudha with cow urine after "corrupt BJP rule ended.
Congress Karnataka president DK Shivakumar, who took oath as the deputy chief minister on May 20, had said in January this yearthat it was time to “cleanse” the Vidhana Soudha (Assembly) with cow urine.
"We will come up with some details to clean the Vidhan Soudha. I also have some ganjala (cow urine) for purification...," Shivakumar had said. Shivakumar alleged that the Assembly had been "polluted by corruption during the BJP's rule".
Days ahead of the election on May 5, Karnataka Congress came up with a bilinugual ‘corruption rate card’ that pointed out various ‘scams’ done by the then ruling BJP government. The ‘corruption rate card’ was released in both English and Kannada and the then Opposition party alleged that the ruling BJP government had looted Rs 1,50,000 crore when they were in power in the state.

In the ‘corruption rate card, Congress mentioned that the cost of the CM is Rs 2,500 crore and a ministerial post costs Rs 500 crore.
Calling BJP’s ‘double-engine government’ as the ‘trouble-engine government’, Congress mentioned the commission on the rate card, that read, “The government demands different deals. It begins with a 30 per cent commission for the mutt grants, 40 per cent for road contracts and goes up to 75 per cent for the Covid-19 supplies.”
After winning 135 seats in the recently concluded assembly election in Karnataka, Siddarmaiah took oath as the Chief Ministerfor the second time, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief DK Shivakumar as his deputy. Besides Siddaramiah and DK Shivakumar, atleast eight other Congress leaders were sworn in as cabinet ministers in Karnataka on Saturday. The party is yet to choose 24 other ministers.
Siddaramaiah's CM bidwas based on larger MLA support.
