Making serious allegations against the newly formed Karnataka government, Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy hit out at the state government, saying Congress bought the voters in the Karnataka election. While speaking at the press conference, he said that Congress distributed 'special' cards to lure voters.

As per the former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, the grand old party distributed 'special' cards with a balance of Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000 to voters, which they could use in shopping malls. Reportedly, 60,000 such cards have been issued to the villagers in Karnataka.

He said, "Congress has distributed this card in nearly 42 constituencies. This card has a scanner, which voters can use in a shopping mall." His statements come amid a time when the Congress and JD(S) have engaged in a war of words.

It should be reminded that this is not the first time that such an allegation has been made against the Congress party. Earlier, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar was caught throwing money at people during a rally. In a video, Shivakumar was seen throwing currency notes at people part of a procession near Bevinahalli.

Following this, the police filed a case against D K Shivakumar, the president of the Karnataka Congress, for allegedly handing out cash during a campaign for a poll. The Mandya police have registered a non-cognisable offence against Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar for allegedly distributing cash during a campaign in the district.
