Pune, July 07: Panasonic Avionics, a supplier of in-flight entertainment and connection systems (IFEC), has expanded its capabilities at Maharashtra's Pune.
Panasonic Avionics' operations in Pune are the company's most recent investment in India. Panasonic entered the Indian market in 1972 and has since expanded from strength to strength. Panasonic Avionics now joins Panasonic Life Solutions India, which today employs 13,000 people across 13 facilities in India.
Panasonic Avionics' new software design centre is part of a company-wide effort to assist airlines in realising their passenger digital engagement vision by providing cutting-edge IFE hardware, best-in-class enterprise software, seamless global high-speed connectivity, and global support via maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
"It's an incredibly exciting time in our industry as our airline partners seek to improve the travel experience in new and exciting ways," said Satyen Yadav, Chief Technology Officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation. "As a trusted partner to the world's leading airlines, our goal is to unlock the potential of IFEC with solutions that give airlines the same flexibility they enjoy with their web and mobile solutions, so they can maximise their net promoter score (NPS), increase customer loyalty, drive revenue, and optimise their operational efficiencies."
To support this ambition, Panasonic Avionics is investing in state-of-the-art labs in India that enable the flexibility to design and evaluate novel passenger experiences in both single and twin-aisle aircraft, allowing airlines to get the proper kind of software solutions from a single source. As a result, the firm is extending its human resources to reproduce the full scale of a narrowbody or widebody aircraft, ensuring that its IFE and connection software can be fully tested in situ and assist carriers improve their in-cabin product.
The investment in Panasonic Avionics' global software engineering expertise will also aid in the delivery of strong, next-generation in-flight entertainment systems, connectivity, and digital app solutions.
Panasonic Avionics invested in a 'build-operate-transfer' (BOT) plant in 2021, which now employs over 250 professional engineers. Panasonic Avionics intends to open a new operations facility in Pune over the next 12 months. The organisation intends to increase the number of engineers based in India to around 400.
