Republic enters Karnataka! Arnab Goswami launches Kannada news channel

Republic Media Network, the media house owned by journalist Arnab Goswami, is set to make a significant entry into the Karnataka media landscape.
 
Republic Media Network has taken over Bengaluru-based Kannada news channel Dighvijay 24×7 formerly owned by Dr Vijay Sankeshwar. Repubiic Media Network formally made the announcement about the development.

This strategic move marks Republic Media Network's third foray into the regional news channel space. According to sources, the newly acquired channel is slated for launch on October 25, 2023.
 
As per the media house, Republic Kannada will burst into the Kannada news market with its tagline ‘ನಿಮ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿ’ (Nimma Dhwani’ or ‘Your Voice’), putting the people of Karnataka at the forefront in the channel’s pledge to fight for people’s causes. Republic Kannada, headquartered in the heart of Bengaluru, will kick off its on-air operations with over 300 professionals.
 
 
 
 
On the tagline of Republic Kannada, Goswami said, “ Republic Kannada will change the news media landscape in Karnataka. We will be as always the voice of the people, ‘Nimma Dhwani’ and work to represent the aspirations of the people of this great state.”

Arnab Goswami had resigned as the editor-in-chief of Times Now in 2016, citing editorial differences. Following his departure, he announced his next ambitious venture, initially named Republic and later modified to Republic TV. Republic Bharat, a Hindi language news channel was launched on February 2, 2019, timing coinciding with India's General Elections in 2019. Republic TV launched Republic Bangla, a Bengali language news channel, on March 7, 2021.
