Lucknow, Feb 24: In a big move, the Yogi Adityanath government cancelled the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable recruitment exam, conducted on February 17 and 18 following the paper leak, an official order confirmed. The re-examination will now be conducted during the next six months.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to X and said, "Orders have been given to cancel the examination-2023 conducted for selection to the posts of Reserve Civil Police and to conduct re-examination within the next six months. There can be no compromise with the sanctity of examinations."

"Those who play with the hard work of the youth will not be spared under any circumstances. Strictest action is certain to be taken against such unruly elements," he added.
 
 

Meanwhile, candidates in Lucknow were seen celebrating as the Chief Minister announced the cancellation of UP Police Constable civil police exams 2023.
 
 

At least 250 people have been either arrested or detained by the police across Uttar Pradesh for allegedly adopting or planning to adopt unfair means in the police constable recruitment exam.

According to a statement issued by the state police headquarters, these arrests or detentions were made from February 15 till 6 pm on February 18. These arrests and detentions were made both by district police and units of the Special Task Force (STF) with the help of local intelligence.

Candidates from many districts of the state demanded the cancellation of the examination.
