A Khalistani Sikh farmer has issued an open threat to Prime minister Narendra Modi, reminiscent of the assassination for former PM Indira Gandhi. In a video circulating on social media, the Khalistani can be heard threatening that PM Modi will face and meet the same fate as Indira Gandhi.

The incident highlights Khalistani radicalisation among the Sikh youth with concerns raising about the Congress government handling of the situation.The NCP chief Sharad Pawar issued a veiled threat to the Modi government citing the assassination of Indira Gandhi for upsetting farmers in Punjab sating that they are contributing to the country’s food production.

The BJP condemned Pawar statement, calling it an attempt to instigate the Sikh community and farmers a serious danger to the life of PM Modi.PM Modi’s convoy was blocked by protesting farmers on a flyover in Punjab leading to a major security lapse. The Incident occurred during the visit of the PM to Ferozepur and the protestors were associated with the BKU Krantikari, a farmer union with past Maoist links.
