With the leftist group Students’ Federation of India (SFI) in JNU opposing "The Bastar: The Naxal Story", hundreds of students joined the screening of a movie on Wednesday.

Notably, the pre-release screening of the film was organised by Rashtriya Kalamanch. Creative Director and Producer Vipul Amritlal Shah, Director Sudipto Sen, and lead actress Adaa Sharma were all part of the panel discussion during the pre-release screening.

However, during the screening, more than 100 students of SFI protested against the screening of the film. These leftist groups also tried to cut the power in the auditorium twice to halt the screening.

In a video shared by IANS, director Sudipto Sen said that people who are against India are showing their true colours by cutting the electricity in an attempt to stop the screening of the movie. He also asserted that by doing so they are trying to hide the truth from the public.

Earlier this year, a section of the JNU student community protested against the teaser of the film.
“The film depicts the story of an area affected by Maoist terrorism. Although attempts were made to cut off the electricity supply by leftist mischievous elements, thousands of students remained present and watched the entire film,” a statement issued by ABVP read.

Rashtriya Kalamanch convener Gaurav said that the purpose of showing this film was to “expose the truth of leftists” among the students.

Actress Adah Sharma and director Sudipto Sen have reunited for Bastar: The Naxal Story. The movie, based on real events in Chhattisgarh, features a stellar cast and released on March 15. It stars Adah Sharma as IPS Officer Neerja Madhvan, who fights against Naxalites to make India Naxal-free.

Shah and Sudipto's previous collaboration 'The Kerala Story' was a success.
