From Smriti's "Ee Sala Cup Namde" to Kohli video call; viral moments after RCB wins maiden WPL title

Last week, RCB's Richa Ghosh broke down after being run out off the last ball as Royal Challengers Bangalore lost by one run by Delhi Capitals in a thriller. This had made every WPL fan doubt whether RCB would qualify for playoffs. But on Sunday night Richa Ghosh scored finishing runs as RCB lifted their maiden WPL crown giving the Bengaluru franchise its first win in 17 years.

While Shreyanka picked up four wickets, including that of Meg Lanning, to walk away with the Purple Cap for the most wickets in the competition, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 35 in the final on the tricky batting surface to help RCB beat Meg Lannings' Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in the low-scoring thriller.

Viral moments of the RCB vs DC WPL final match 

 
1. Speaking after the win, RCB captain Mandhana couldn't control her emotions. During the presentation ceremony, When asked what message she wanted to give, she said, "One statement that always comes up is Ee Sala Cup Namde. Now it's Ee Sala Cup Namdu. Kannada is not my first language but it was important to say it for the fans"
 
2. RCB's star spinner Asha Shobana, who had also good outing this season, was also seen in tears after the win and hugged pacer Kate Cross. (At 0.59 sec, you can watch it.)

 

3. Following the win, the celebrations peaked as former RCB captain Virat Kohli video called the RCB's women's team. Reacting to the viral video call, Smriti Mandhana said – “I didn’t hear anything what Virat Kohli bhaiya saying because crowds to loud. He looked really really happy with brought smile. He’s part of this franchise in last 16-17 years so I could see that happiness on his face”.

Kohli said: “Smriti, this year RCB will become the only team to win both WPL and IPL in the same year”.




4. Bengaluru erupted in joy. Several videos from Bengaluru went viral oon the social media with thousands of RCB fans waited for this win for years.


5. And, finally when RCB lifted the trophy after 17 years.


Initially, Delhi won the toss and opted to bat. DC openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma got a good start. But Shafali's (44) dismissal in the eighth over to Sophie Molineux turned the tide of the match as two more wickets fell in the same over. Other than the Aussie, even Shreyanka Patil was in sensational form, taking a four-wicket haul.
