Pakistan cricket team trains with Army to improve fitness ahead for T20 World Cup; sparks memefest!

Kakul, April 3: With an aim to improve fitness for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan cricket team, under the newly-appointed white ball skipper Babar Azam, took part in military drills during their two-week training program at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) in Kakul.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a video of the Pakistan cricket team undergoing various drills and exercises at the army base camp. The video is captioned, "A candid peek into the Pakistan team's training at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT), Kakul."
 
 
The fitness camp, which was set to conclude on April 8, could be wrapped up a day before the date announced earlier. The players will travel to Rawalpindi from Abbottabad on April 7 for the Iftar during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan. After Iftar, players will go back home ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
 
 

The players taking part in practice session at the army camp in Kakul are –

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan, Haseebullah, Saud Shakeel, Usman Khan, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha, Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Irfan Khan Niazi, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Usama Mir, Mohammad Nawaz, Mehran Mumtaz, Abrar Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Ali, Zaman Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Aamir Jamal, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Amir.

The PCB is hopeful that players will get their fitness “up to speed” by training with the army.

Prior to T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies, Pakistan will play five T20Is against New Zealand at home, followed by two in Ireland and four in England.
