A shocking and deeply disturbing incident has
surfaced from Arambagh in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, where a large cache of suspicious materials, including MGNREGA job cards, sticks and batons, etc., was recovered from an office of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) located in the Dongol area under Salepur-II gram panchayat. The incident has
triggered tension across the locality, with the Bharatiya Janata Party accusing the TMC of orchestrating bloodshed and political violence post-elections.
According to reports, local BJP workers and villagers on Sunday, May 10th, demanded that the TMC office be opened in the presence of police, claiming that suspicious activities had been taking place there for a long time. When the lock was finally opened under police supervision, those present were reportedly stunned by the items found inside.
The materials allegedly recovered from the office included:Bundles of MGNREGA job cards
A large number of sticks and batons
Piles of white cloth traditionally associated with mourning and widowhood
Following the recovery, BJP workers staged protests and levelled serious allegations against the TMC. Several local BJP supporters stated that had the election results on the 4th gone in favour of the ruling party, “rivers of blood would have flowed in Bengal.”
They alleged that the sticks were intended to be used against political opponents, while the white cloth symbolised preparations for mourning and the destruction of families. According to them, the stockpiling of such items pointed towards a pre-planned attempt to spread fear and violence in the region.
The incident has since sparked major political controversy and raised several serious questions. BJP leaders also questioned why MGNREGA job cards, linked to a government welfare scheme, were being stored inside a political party office. They also demanded an explanation regarding the purpose of keeping such a large quantity of sticks and white cloth at the premises.
Police have reportedly seized all the recovered materials and initiated an investigation into the matter. A heavy police force has been deployed in the Dongol area to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation of tension.
