A sensational case of love jihad has emerged in Lakhisarai district of Bihar, putting government employee Kamal Ashraf, a clerk in the Education Department, in serious legal jeopardy. Authorities have announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest, as he continues to evade law enforcement despite multiple raids and search operations.

As per the local reports, Ashraf faces a string of grave allegations, including identity fraud, sexual exploitation, religious coercion, mental and physical abuse, and financial fraud. According to the FIR filed against Ashraf, son of Gulam Suhani and a resident of Haldi village under Manikpur police station, the accused approached the victim as far back as 2012, concealing his true identity and presenting himself as 'Sumit', a resident of Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Operating under this false persona, he earned the victim's trust and entered into a romantic relationship with her. The victim confirmed that she remained unaware of his real identity for years.

The complaint reveals that the alleged relationship began when the victim was still a minor. Once she grew old enough to be an adult, the accused had her statement recorded in court, a move the victim claims was deliberately orchestrated to lend legal legitimacy to the relationship.

As per FIR No. 94/25 registered at Suryagarha police station, the accused's true identity only came to light after the victim demanded marriage and social recognition following several years together. The revelation triggered escalating disputes between the two parties, eventually culminating in a legal battle.

The victim has stated that Ashraf repeatedly pressured her to convert her religion, and even forced her to offer Namaz and consume beef. She further states that whenever she resisted his demands, she was subjected to both mental and physical torture.

The FIR also details years of sexual exploitation carried out under the false promise of marriage, accompanied by ongoing financial fraud and psychological harassment. The situation grew more complicated when a child was born from the relationship, deepening the victim's demand for social and legal recognition, a demand the accused allegedly continued to resist.

Further investigations have uncovered that the accused misused vehicles that had been financed in the victim's name. Two such vehicles were reportedly being used by Ashraf and his associates. Police have since recovered a Scorpio from the Malaypur area of Jamui district, and one of the accused's relatives has been taken into custody. The search for a second vehicle remains active.

Despite conducting raids at multiple suspected locations and executing court-ordered seizure operations, police have so far been unable to trace the accused. Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police, Prerna Kumar, has urged citizens to come forward with any information regarding Ashraf's whereabouts, assuring the public that the identity of all informants will be kept strictly confidential. Authorities have stated that the investigation has been fast-tracked given the gravity of the case, and an arrest is expected soon.
