In a bizarre video that grabbed the attention of the internet in no time, a burqa-clad woman could be seen allegedly assaulting a traffic police officer after the latter stopped her for recovery of 20 pending challans. The video is believed to be from Hyderabad, Telangana.

As per several social media accounts, the woman was initially stopped for not wearing a helmet while riding the bike, but later it was found that she had 20 challans against her since 2017, all of which remained unpaid.

In the video that is making rounds on social media, the woman can be seen yelling at the traffic police as the latter insists her to clear the challan on the spot. She can also be seen pushing the officer and riding the bike over him in an attempt to escape the challan payments.

"Burkha-clad woman with 20 pending challans was stopped by Hyderabad Traffic Police. Instead of cooperating, she yelled at officers, threatened them, tried to drive over them, and created a scene. Challans date back to 2017. Just another day in Hyderabad," the video caption that was first posted by a local media channel read.

Meanwhile, netizens raised concerns over the unruly behaviour. One of the users wrote, "The problem isn't enforcement. The problem is the entitlement of those who think rules apply to everyone except themselves. Traffic fines, electricity bills, taxes, public order- there cannot be one law for responsible citizens and another for habitual violators."

"If it had been the USA or any other advanced economy, she would have been pinned to the floor and arrested by the police right after she tried to run away. I think India is the only country in the world that forbids male police officers from arresting female offenders. Are male police officers supposed to wait for female police officers to arrive if a female offender creates a nuisance and unrest or kills someone?" another comment read.

The video is making rounds on the internet; however, the authenticity of the same could not be independently verified by NewsBharati.
