Noida woman who abused PM Modi during CJP protest booked; Here's what she said against PM Modi and Italian PM Meloni

On Thursday evening, July 30, a Zero FIR was filed at 6:19 pm against a woman from Noida for hurling abuses at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the CJP protest held at Jantar Mantar. The complaint was registered at Noida's Expressway Police Station, based on a complaint submitted by Smriti Singh Chandel, a lawyer based in Ghaziabad. As per the FIR, the accused has been named as Ruchika Singh.

 

 

A video circulating on X alleged that Ruchika Singh was the woman caught on camera abusing the PM during the July 23, 2026 protest in Delhi. The post further claimed she is employed as a hairdresser at a shopping mall in Noida. The FIR states that Ruchika Singh used derogatory language against the Prime Minister in a public setting, allegedly with the intent to provoke social unrest and disrupt peace, thereby disrespecting the dignity of the PM's constitutional position.

 

Investigators say they are reviewing footage from the protest, along with viral clips circulating online and other electronic evidence, as part of their probe. Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul posted a copy of the FIR and said that the woman had been booked based on a complaint filed by Chandel.

 

 

Meanwhile, Chandel, while commenting about the issue, said, "I am a lawyer in the Supreme Court. I have filed an FIR against the protesters who made indecent and objectionable remarks at Jantar Mantar. During the protest, derogatory language was used against the country's Prime Minister and his late mother. I am also a mother. I do not want our children to hear such language on social media or to consider it normal and support it. For this reason, I have taken this legal step. We live in India and have grown up with values. We should maintain decorum and decency in our language. Filthy or vulgar language should not be used to insult any person. The whole country is watching us, and our behavior impacts society."

 

In the video making the rounds on social media, Ruchika Singh can be seen using derogatory language against PM Modi. She could also be seen dragging the name of the Italian PM and unnecessarily linking it to PM Modi. 

 

 

 

Noida Police has registered a case against Ruchika Singh under BNS sections 352, 353(1) and 356(1). Section 352 (BNS) deals with intentionally insulting someone, which is likely to cause a quarrel or breach of peace. This can result in up to 2 years in jail, a fine, or both. Section 353(1) (BNS) deals with spreading false or provocative statements that threaten law and order or incite unrest. This can result in up to 3 years in jail, a fine, or both, and section 356(1) (BNS) deals with making or publishing a defamatory statement to harm someone's reputation. This can result in up to 2 years in jail, a fine, or both.
