The accused was identified as Mizanur Rahman, a resident of Bilasipara. The operation was part of the police's intensified crackdown on the illegal drug trade in the area. The state of Assam is seemingly intensifying its actions against drug trafficking as this is not an isolated incident. On August 3, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police had apprehended three suspected traffickers from Manipur at Amingaon, on the outskirts of Guwahati, seizing narcotics with an estimated international market value exceeding Rs 12.5 crore.

Acting on precise intelligence, a joint team comprising the STF and Kamrup Police intercepted a Tata Nexon, registration number AS-11-AA-6800, at Amingaon. The vehicle was allegedly ferrying a drug consignment from Kakching in Manipur to a district in Western Assam, routed through Amingaon.
