On Monday, August 24, high tension gripped the area outside Vikasa Soudha in Bengaluru as BJP workers, led by senior party leaders, attempted to force their way into the state legislature. Their demand was the resignation of Minister B Nagendra over the multi-crore Karnataka Dalit Valmiki Corporation scam.
As per the reports, Rs 187 crore belonging to the Valmiki Corporation was siphoned off from the state treasury and diverted to fund Congress's election campaigns in Karnataka and Telangana.

Police personnel moved to block the BJP leaders at the gates of Vidhana Soudha, resulting in scuffles and a tense standoff at the barricades. The protest followed a call by Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, who announced a day earlier that the BJP, joined by the JD(S), would "lay siege" to Vidhana Soudha to demand accountability.
Earlier in the day, BJP leaders held a large-scale demonstration at Freedom Park before marching toward Vidhana Soudha. This development follows a sharp attack by Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka on the ruling Congress government on Sunday, in which he raised the same allegations about the Karnataka Dalit Valmiki Corporation scam.

According to Ashoka, Rs 187 crore belonging to the Valmiki Corporation was siphoned off from the state treasury and diverted to fund Congress's election campaigns in Karnataka and Telangana.
Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, Ashoka pushed back against claims that Nagendra was being singled out because he is Dalit. He argued that the issue isn't about Nagendra alone, but about his alleged connection to the Rs 187 crore in Dalit funds that were reportedly misappropriated from the Valmiki Corporation.
During the protest, several BJP leaders have also been detained.

He further said it has been widely known for the past week that Rs 187 crore belonging to the Karnataka Dalit Valmiki Corporation was looted from the treasury and funneled toward Congress's election campaigns in Karnataka and Telangana, adding that he has already released supporting documents. He questioned why Congress leaders were protesting against the BJP's demonstration, suggesting that the ruling party's own street protests were an attempt to deflect from the truth.
He maintained that if the allegations were baseless, there would have been no need for Congress to take to the streets; the public, he said, would have drawn their own conclusions that the claims held no substance.
