Pon Radhakrishnan backs E Palanisamy over revised tariffs of Transport Corporation

Chennai, January 22: Welcoming the decision of revised tariff introduced by Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan said that in order to maintain the financial health of the state transport Corporation, hike in existing rates was the only option to tackle the state loess.

Speaking to the media at Hosur, Radhakrishnan stated that previous government had ignored the financial condition of Transport Corporation just for the sake of vote-bank politics. The senior BJP leader maintained that E Palanisamy-led government has taken a right decision by introducing new rates after the long span of six years.

Amidst the criticism E Palanisamy-led government on Friday revised the fare of Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses in Chennai. On the contrary, BJP Tamil Nadu Chief Tamilisai Soundararajan publically expressed displeasure over the development and event went on saying it as the anti-poor move.
