Caste-based politics ruining social fabric: Kamal Haasan

Chennai, February 15: Expressing concern over the existing caste-based politics, Veteran actor Kamal Haasan said that political decisions driven by caste equations have ruined the social fabric of the country. In his latest interaction with leading Tamil magazine, Ananda Vikatan Kamal observed that the concept of caste is being deliberately kept alive for pity vote bank politics.

Referring to the current political state of Tamil Nadu, the award-winning actor slammed state government for nurturing ugly political campaign just to safeguarding the target constituency keeping electoral gains in mind. The maverick performer targeted state government for the sorry state of public toilets in rural areas despite various schemes announced by the incumbent government.

Questioning the policies of AIDMK government, Haasan pointed that state administration has miserably failed to tackle the important sectors like Agricultural. He further added that responsible stakeholders are not even aware of ground zero whereas plans and policies are working only on papers and no substantial steps are being taken in order to curb the serious problems faced by farmers.

The Ulaganayagan, who is gearing up for the mega political foray, revealed that he will devote more time for political engagements. During his recent public interaction at Harvard University, the ace actor announced that after completing ongoing commitments, he won’t sign any new films so as to serve the people of Tamil Nadu. Kamal Haasan will announce his political party's name on 21 February 2018.

According to media reports, the Superstar is very keen on releasing the second installment of Vishwaroopam 2 where the film is under post-production work. The aspiring actor feels that due to his decision of political foray, Vishwaroopam 2  will meet the same fate as its prequel. If everything goes well, Vishwaroopam 2 will hit the screens in April.

The actor turned politician will embark on his first political state-wide mass outreach programme from 21 February. Under the theme of 'Naalai Namadhe' (Tomorrow is ours), the 63-years old maverick actor would criss-cross the entire state to mobilizes support for his much anticipated political outfit.

When asked about any possible political understanding with his friend Superstar Rajanikanth, who is also plunging into state Politics, the ace actor rejected the reports and maintained that time would decide the line of action and plans of collaboration with Rajani. He categorically denied the possibility of a tie-up due to Rajani’s inclination towards the right-wing organization and especially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
