Bollywood’s powerhouse, versatile actress Sridevi passes away giving 'Sadma' to her fans

New Delhi, February 25: Resonating beauty and versatility hand in hand, she conquered her dreams and became the first female superstar of Bollywood. But fortune had other plans as Veteran Actress Sridevi passed away in Dubai last night due to cardiac arrest. The Chalbaaz actress was just 54. The actress had been to Dubai where she was attending a family wedding.


 The legendary actor was with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor for Mohit Marwah’s wedding festivities. The news of her death came as a sudden shock for the entire film fraternity. The news was confirmed by Sanjay Kapoor, brother of Bonney Kapoor.

Expressing condolences to her family, President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted about the sudden demise of the versatile actress and also said that she was a huge inspiration for many other actors.

 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave condolence to her family.
 
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also expressed shock and sadness to the actress.
 
 
Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani also expressed her condolence to the family through twitter.
 
 
Apart from this the entire film fraternity poured condolences and shock after hearing the sudden death of the powerhouse actress.
 
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra vented her condolences to the actress family.
 
 
Many other dignitaries expressed their commiserations on the sudden demise of the versatile legendary actress.
 
 
From the age of four, she had worked in films in the Tamil, Telugu, Malaylam, Kannada and Hindi languages. She was considered one of the very few Indian female superstars capable of huge box office success without the support of a male hero.

Sridevi has known for her performance is some of the iconic films like "Mr India", "Nagina", "Sadma", "Chaalbaaz", "Chandni" among many others. The Padma Shri recipient was last seen in "Mom" in 2017.

She debuted as a lead actress in a Bollywood film in 1978, soon becoming one of India's biggest film stars. Over five decades, she starred in more than 150 films, including such Bollywood classics as Mr India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz and Sadma. In 2013, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri - the fourth highest civilian honour.
