Tangail, March 11: The ongoing India-Bangladesh defense cooperation, a joint exercise Sampriti III 2019, witnessed a different but refreshing exercise when the troops of Indian Army and Bangladesh Army engaged in a friendly Volleyball match.

The Indian Army along with the Bangladeshi counterparts practised intricate operations that can be executed in a joint counter terrorism environment on Sunday.

As part of the exercise, the two Armies have been training together and have also carried out firing from various platforms to achieve synergy.

It has been focusing at increasing mutual cooperation, bonhomie and camaraderie between the armies of India and Bangladesh through interoperability & joint tactical exercises.

A company group from Bangladesh Army and an equal number from Indian Army are taking part in the two-week long exercise going on since March 2 to March 15.

Major General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, General Officer Commanding, 19 Infantry Division, Bangladesh Army welcomed the Indian contingent and in his inaugural remarks highlighted the commonly shared beliefs of democracy, freedom, equality and justice that are precious to both the nations.

The exercise will see them hone their tactical and technical skills in countering the insurgency, counter-terrorism and aid to civil authorities for disaster management in a UN peacekeeping scenario involving a combined deployment at a battalion level.
