Vijayawada, Mar 12: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Monday came down heavily on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu over his continuous attack on BJP.

Speaking to the media here, Swamy said that the TDP President who is dancing on the tunes of Congress party is misleading Andhra people over central assistance. Talking about Special Category Status, the former Union Minister stated the central government provided comprehensive financial assistance to the coastal state which was similar to Special Category tag.

“Initially Chandra Babu was ok with the special package offered by the NDA government, then what happened in the last year ” he questioned. Last year, accusing BJP of non-cooperation, Naidu’s party had snapped ties with BJP on the issue of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Talking about Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) public interest litigation, the senior BJP leader alleged that the state government has misused the revenue of the religious body and demanded a court-monitored panel to probe the reported financial misappropriation. The former Janta Party leader opined that the temple body should be kept out of state control. Last year, Swamy had filed a petition in the AP high court over the alleged corruption in state-run Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

In this litigation, the Rajya Sabha MP took exceptions to the existing provision of Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 1987. Earlier, A V Ramana Deekshitulu, former Chief priest of TTD had raised serious objections over the functioning of TTD board after which he was removed from the post. The High court will address the issue on April 6.
