Ranchi, May 28: What do you say to the God of Death? Not Today..! Exhibiting great valour and sense of courage, , almost 11 personnel of the CRPF and the state police escaped a major mishap in Jharkhand. Unfortunately the officers were injured as the IED blast was triggered by Naxals in Jharkhand's Seraikela Kharsawan district in the early hours of Tuesday.
The blast took place around 5 am when a joint team of the CRPF's special jungle warfare unit, CoBRA, and the state police was carrying out an operation in the forests of Kuchai area in the district, they said. According to the officials, the improvised explosive device (IED) is suspected to have been buried under the dirt track.
The injured troops, eight of the CoBRA and rest belonging to the state police, have been airlifted to state capital Ranchi. The joint team was being led by the 209th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the Central Reserve Police Force deployed in the state for anti-Naxal operations.
Maoists have been active in this area for quite some time and have attacked police personnel before as well. CPI (Maoist) Patiram Manjhi alias Anal has a prize money of Rs 25 lakh on his head and is currently camping in the area with two other members of the organisation Maharaj Pramanik and Amit Munda who have a reward of Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lack each.
