Calgary, July 3: India’s genius shuttlres players Saurabh Verma, Lakshya Sen and Ajay Jayaram advanced to the second round of the men’s singles event of Canada Open Super 100 tournament being held in Calgary.
Lakshya Sen won over Chun kar Lung of England 21-7, 21-8 while Saurabh Verma surpassed Canada’s Antonio Li 21-18, 21-13. Former World No. 13 Ajay Jayaram got better off Huang Guozing 21-15, 20-22, 21-15 to set up a clash with fifth seed Rajiv Ouseph of England.
In the second round, Lakshya Sen will face China’s Weng Hong Yang while Saurabh will meet Canada’s B. R. Sankeerth. Former Commonwealth Games champion and sixth seed Parupalli Kashyap will take on France’s Lucas Corvee while third seed H. S. Prannoy will face Japan’s Koki Watanabe.
