Aarogya Setu App gets appraisal from the World Bank; Click here to know more about PM Modi's initiative

New Delhi, April 12: World Health Bank on Sunday has praised India's innovative technological app "Aarogya Setu App" saying that this app is a great example of how digital technologies can also be used to monitor the spread of the coronavirus.

 

 

In its South Economic Focus reports, it has acknowledged the efforts made by India in launching the Aarogya Setu App. The report added the functioning of the app and said that it uses smartphone location data to tell users if they are close to a person who tested positive for the virus.

 

India has taken a lead over other global tech giants by releasing the Aarogya Setu app with experts and multilateral agencies identifying it as a valuable breakthrough to contain the spread of the epidemic. This app is developed by the Indian government which helps significantly in contact tracing and curbing the spread of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

 

Moreover, World Technolgy Giants, Apple, and Google have stated that they are developing a software program for smartphones that may help in contact tracing and inform the viewers when they are coming in touch with COVID-19 infected persons.

 

NITI Aayog's chief Amitabh Kant took to Twitter and shared, "India leads the way in contact tracing for COVID-19: privacy first by design, secure, robust and scalable to billion users. Glad to see Apple and Google joining hands to develop contact tracing on the lines of Aarogya Setu".

 

 

Meanwhile, the application has received an overwhelming response from the citizens which was downloaded over 10 million times. The government is urging all citizens to take extra care of themselves and their families in this tough time and stay safe inside.

Earlier, PM Narendra Modi had urged people to download the app saying, there is a possibility that the app could subsequently be used as an e-pass to facilitate travel from one place to another.-/
