Colonel Santosh Babu’s wife appointed as deputy collector

Hyderabad, July 22: Santoshi, wife of Colonel Santosh Babu who was among the 20 Indian soldiers killed in the Galwan Valley clash has been appointed as Deputy Collector.

According to Telangana Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao handed over the appointment letter to Santoshi at Pragathi Bhavan in presence of her family members on Wednesday.
 
Santoshi initially chose for commercial tax officer post however changed her mind and sought a deputy collector job in Group-I cadre, which was accepted by the state government.
Ministers Jagdeesh Reddy, Prashanth Reddy, Niranjan Reddy, MP from united Nalgonda District Badugula Lingaiah, MLAs Gyaderi Kishore, Bollam Mallaiah Yadav, Chirumarthi Lingaiah, Saidireddy, Zilla Parishad chairperson Deepika Yugandhar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy, Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma were also present at Pragathi Bhavan.
 
On June 15, Col Babu, the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar regiment of the Indian Army was martyred when a brutal face-off took place at Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh between Indian Army and Chinese troops. At least 20 Indian soldiers died in the clashes.
