Gambhir extends support to Nupur Sharma, targets ‘secular liberals’ for silence on threats to her

New Delhi, June 13: Amid ongoing controversy over the Prophet Muhammad row, Bhartiya Janta Party East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir has now extended his support to former BJP leader Nupur Sharma.

 

 

Taking Twitter, Gambhir targets ‘secular liberals’ for silence on threats to Nupur Sharma. With the hashtag #LetsTolerateIntolerance, He tweeted, "Silence of so called ‘secular liberals’ on the sickening display of hatred and death threats throughout the country against a woman who has apologized is surely deafening."

 

 

The BJP suspended Sharma, one of its national spokespersons, from the party’s primary membership for her remarks in a television debate.

 

It Should be noted that a row of controversy erupted after the Nupur Sharma passed remarks against Prophet Mohammad, during a TV debate. Her remarks have drawn condemnation from many Islamic countries and sparked protests from Muslims in different parts of India.

 

Since then, Nupur Sharma is receiving multiple life-threatening messages from the Islamists over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Following the complaint, Delhi Police had provided security to Sharma and her family. "Sharma and her family have been provided police security after she alleged that she has been receiving threats and was being harassed over her remarks," an official said.
