Islamabad, Aug 3: The Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an organisation of Baloch rebel groups seeking independence from Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack on Pakistan Army Aviation helicopter killing six Pakistan Military Officials including a top Lieutenant General. Apart from this, it claimed that Lieutenant General killed in the attack was involved in enforced disappearances & Baloch genocide.
In a media statement, the rebel organisation said that Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, who commanded the Quetta based XII corps was directly involved in enforced disappearances and the genocide of the Baloch community. The statement added that accepting "responsibility for the attack was delayed to ensure protection of the Baloch freedom fighters".
Baloch Khan, the spokesperson of Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar, said that the freedom fighters of BRAS targeted a low flying helicopter of Pakistani military in a mountainous area between Windar and Noorani in Balochistan. The targeted helicopter crashed near Moosa Goth in Dareji.
Baloch Khan said that on 1st August 2022 a team of BRAS fighters spotted a low flying helicopter of the enemy (Pakistan) forces. In the attack, carried out with antiaircraft guns, the helicopter was badly damaged and later completely destroyed after it crashed near Moosa Goth. All six enemy personnel onboard the flight were killed in the attack. They included Core Commander 12 Core Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, Director General Coast Guard Major General Amjad, Brigadier Khalid, pilot Major Saeed, co-pilot Talha and crew chief Naik Muddasir.
Baloch Khan said that Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali remained the Director General of Military Intelligence and Inspector General of Frontier Corps South in Balochistan. He was directly involved in enforced disappearances and the Baloch genocide.
Baloch Khan said that the Baloch fighters successfully reached their secure locations after the attack. Accepting responsibility for the attack was delayed to ensure protection of the Baloch freedom fighters. Baloch Khan added that Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar will continue to carry lethal attacks against the enemy until the full withdrawal of the enemy forces and the liberation of Baloch motherland.
BRAS has been involved in unprecedented attacks on the Pakistani military camps at Panjgur and Nushki in February 2022 which shook the Pakistani army to the core.
