Out of 10 mandalas, 1028 shuktas, 10580 mantras of world’s oldest religious book Rigveda, Gayatri Mantra is considered to be one of the most sacred and powerful one. It is considered to be the key opener of the minds of the people chanting it.
 
Created by Maharishi Vishwamitra, certified not only internationally by an American scientist Howard Steigeril, who collected the mantras and researched them in his laboratory but also by an All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMs) who concluded their research in 1998.

The term mantra originates from Sanskrit and means an instrument of mind or thought. It is a sacred utterance consisting of syllables, words, or verses to form a sacred symbol, spiritual figure, or magic incantation.

In their conclusion the scientists explained that regular chanting of Gayatri Mantra, on a definite time of a day produces several hormonal changes in the body, which induces proper sleep, rest and happiness hormone, which helps the body to function in the much better way than the body of those who don’t chant it.
 
The research concluded that the mantra had 24 syllables which addresses 24 different sections of the body. The arrangement of sound waves provide sound therapy to the body which itself is a cure of many diseases, that’s why we say, ”sarwa rog niwarini Gayatri”.
 
 
 
Being aware of the importance of Gayatri Mantra, during our ancient times it was made compulsory for the students of our great gurukulas. This was the reason why India gave birth to the scholars like Aryabhata, Dhanwantri, Panni and many more with an unending list.
