Skylock, an Israeli company, has teamed with DCM Shriram Industries Ltd in India to build the former's VIP Dome Pro under the name DCM portable counter-unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) system.
A DCM Shriram executive told Janes at the 4th Drone International Expo 2023 in New Delhi on July 26 and 27 that the endeavor is aimed at the Indian market.
Manufacturing began in 2022, and DCM Shriram is now testing the system's radio frequency (RF) detector and jammer with the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on the western border, with a software-defined radio frequency range of between 70 MHz and 6 GHz.
For day and night missions, the DCM counter-unmanned aerial system (CUAS) features ethernet-based automated detection, tracking, identification, and neutralization capabilities. The CUAS features a military-grade design with IP67 and IP66 shell protection levels and a technological readiness level (TRL) of 9.
The RF detector in the system is completely passive and can detect the controller and the UAV even while the UAV is on the ground. It also has a Wi-Fi frequency direction-finding sensor with up to 5° root mean square (RMS) accuracy. To track the operators' geographical coordinates, the system requires three or more RF detectors.
The 9.5 kg DCM RF detector measures 0.320.29 m, offers 360° azimuth coverage, 90° elevation coverage, and a dynamic range of 70 dB. The RF detector offers a scanning frequency resolution of <100 Hz.
