In yet another instance of spreading the anti-India narrative, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declared, "We are fighting against the BJP, RSS and the Indian State itself", further emphasising that this is not a political struggle.
Rahul Gandhi's choice of words aligns disturbingly with Maoist ideology, raising alarm bells about his calculated approach. As someone who boasts so much about the Constitution and who holds a constitutional position, the statement reflects a grave disregard for the integrity of the nation. Therefore this seems to be a deliberate strategy. This is not the first time Gandhi has questioned India's unity. He has publicly stated that "India is not a nation" but merely "a union of states." This perception speaks that he does not believe in the idea of India as a unified nation-state.
It should be noted that the Article 12 of the Indian Constitution defines the Indian State, encompassing all legislative and executive organs, including the Parliament, state legislatures and local bodies. By proclaiming a battle against the Indian State, Gandhi essentially challenges every constitutional body, from the Lok Sabha to the Supreme Court and undermines democratic institutions at every level.
His anti-India stance includes his public tearing of a cabinet proposal during the UPA regime, controversial engagements with foreign entities, including meetings with Chinese officials during sensitive periods, meeting anti-India voices like Somali-American politician Ilhan Omar, speaking ill about India on foreign soil have only deepened suspicions about his motives for India. These actions suggest a pattern of aligning with entities that question India's sovereignty and cast doubt on his commitment to India's national interests.
After calling for a fight against the Indian State, Rahul Gandhi owes an explanation to the nation. What fuels this hostility towards a country that has honoured his family with its highest offices? At a time when India needs cohesion and leadership, his statements sow seeds of division and mistrust, tarnishing the legacy of his grand old party.
